Navigating Sexual Health During Cancer Treatment: Vaginal Dryness and Loss of Orgasm

My personal journey with sex during my cancer treatment is very short and sweet. We have had minimal intercourse over the last 6 years. Yes, it's been difficult for both of us. My husband and I were always close. The times we have had sex, it was extremely painful. You can only get so creative when you are on chemotherapy because that means oral sex is out for the woman to receive, at least.
I found external stimulation to be the best, but eventually, the desire and even the stimulation just didn't matter. I love giving to my husband, but that too gets stale. You want to have some type of connection with your husband. My husband also said that being able to pleasure his wife is important. We found ways to spice things up with external toys, but we all know that isn't the intimacy that we need or want. That skin-on-skin contact IS important.
In my oncologist's office recently was a brochure on Bonafide. One of the things we have to consider with nutraceuticals is whether or not they are contraindicated. In my case at this time, I cannot eat grapefruit, pomegranate, or anything with grape seed oil or extract. Speaking with your oncologist is extremely important when adding supplements. For me personally, the last thing I want to do is counteract the meds I am pumping into my body to decrease their efficacy. I have even had the pharmacist verify that a supplement is ok or not. There are great benefits to supplements during our cancer journey, but we must also be diligent in knowing the effects they have.
Cancer treatment is an incredibly challenging journey that impacts not only your physical health but also your emotional and intimate well-being. Among the many side effects of treatments like chemotherapy, radiation, and hormonal therapy, changes in sexual health—such as vaginal dryness and loss of orgasm—are often overlooked or difficult to talk about. However, these issues are both common and manageable with the right support and resources.
In this post, we’ll delve into the causes of these symptoms, how they can impact your quality of life, and how products like Bonafide’s Reveree Plus and Ristella can provide relief and help you reclaim your sexual health during and after cancer treatment.
Understanding Vaginal Dryness During Cancer Treatment
Vaginal dryness is a frequent side effect of cancer treatments, particularly those that impact hormonal levels, such as chemotherapy, radiation targeting the pelvic area, and hormonal therapies for breast or ovarian cancers. These treatments can lead to a significant drop in estrogen levels, which play a critical role in maintaining vaginal lubrication and elasticity.
Symptoms of vaginal dryness can include:
Pain or discomfort during intercourse
Itching, burning, or irritation
Increased susceptibility to vaginal infections
A general feeling of dryness or tightness
Left unaddressed, these symptoms can significantly impact intimacy, self-confidence, and overall quality of life. While over-the-counter lubricants and moisturizers can provide temporary relief, they may not address the underlying hormonal changes causing the dryness.
The Emotional Impact of Loss of Orgasm
Another common but less discussed issue is the loss of orgasm or difficulty achieving sexual satisfaction. This can be due to a combination of factors, including:
Hormonal imbalances that decrease libido
Nerve damage from surgery or radiation
Fatigue and emotional stress
Changes in body image and self-esteem
Loss of orgasm can create feelings of frustration, sadness, or detachment in relationships. Many people hesitate to discuss these changes with their healthcare providers, but it’s important to remember that these issues are valid and deserving of attention.

Bonafide Nutraceuticals: A Natural Solution
Addressing these challenges requires a holistic approach that combines medical advice, emotional support, and effective products designed to improve vaginal health and sexual function. Bonafide, a trusted name in women’s health, offers two nutraceuticals that can make a meaningful difference: Reveree Plus and Ristella.
Reveree Plus: For Vaginal Dryness
Reveree Plus is a hormone-free vaginal moisturizer specifically designed to relieve dryness and discomfort. Its key benefits include:
Long-lasting hydration: Reveree Plus contains hyaluronic acid, a powerful natural hydrator that helps restore moisture and improve vaginal elasticity.
Gentle and safe: Free from hormones and parabens, it’s suitable for women undergoing cancer treatments who may need to avoid estrogen-based products.
Easy application: Reveree Plus is designed for comfortable use, making it a simple addition to your self-care routine.
Ristella: For Sexual Satisfaction
Ristella is another innovative product by Bonafide, formulated to improve sexual arousal and orgasm. This supplement works by:
Enhancing blood flow: Ingredients like French maritime pine bark extract promote better circulation to the genital area, which can help with sensitivity and arousal.
Boosting nitric oxide production: Nitric oxide plays a key role in sexual function, and Ristella’s natural ingredients support its production.
Supporting overall sexual health: The formula includes a blend of antioxidants and nutrients to enhance sexual satisfaction without relying on hormones.
I have found that taking Ristella as part of my daily routine has enhanced my connection to my sexual pleasure. This in turn has helped to rekindle my connection with my husband, even during the challenges of cancer treatment. I have seen and felt an improvement in our intercourse with the use of Reveree Plus. We are finding time to reconnect on this deeper level more than ever. Taking our time to explore each other and finding new ways to enjoy each other that aren't uncomfortable has given us back some normalcy in our lives that was desperately needed.

Tips for Managing Sexual Health During Cancer Treatment
In addition to using products like Reveree Plus and Ristella, here are some practical tips to help manage sexual health:
Communicate openly: Talk with your partner about what you’re experiencing and how they can support you. Intimacy can take many forms, and open communication can help you explore new ways to connect.
Seek professional support: Don’t hesitate to discuss sexual health with your oncologist or a sexual health specialist. They can offer personalized advice and recommend additional therapies if needed.
Prioritize self-care: Address fatigue, stress, and anxiety by incorporating relaxation techniques, regular exercise, and balanced nutrition into your routine.
Explore physical therapy: Pelvic floor therapy can effectively address pain, improve muscle tone, and enhance sexual function.
Be patient with yourself: Healing and adaptation take time. Celebrate small improvements and remind yourself that your sexual function does not define your worth.
Why Sexual Health Matters
Sexual health is an integral part of overall well-being. While cancer treatment may temporarily alter your body and its responses, it doesn’t mean you have to accept discomfort or loss of pleasure as the new normal. By taking proactive steps and exploring solutions like Bonafide’s Reveree Plus and Ristella, you can regain control over this important aspect of your life. I have and it's been worth the effort and research. That's why I want to share it with you.
